An Impractical ki3 Transducer

Show Abstract
A transducer is proposed that is capable, in principle, of achieving Baerwald's ki3 coupling factor. This coupling factor is noteworthy because it is the highest coupling factor that a piezoelectric ceramic can exhibit under any quasistatic extensional mode of deformation. The transducer is impractical, but its analysis may help to clarify the physical significance of ki3.
